The View from Spokane

Hello again! As you can see, this blog has been given a major makeover. We are no longer international school teachers, and we no longer live in Nigeria.

In the meantime, enjoy this gallery of our first 30 days in our new home. We moved to Spokane, Washington late August. It is the second largest city in the state, and at least 6 hours from Seattle. During summer one can go hiking, biking, and camping around here. Idaho’s Couer d’Alene is only an hour away if one prefers to go swimming, fishing, boating in the lake or enjoy the rides at Silverwood Theme Park. I’m sure when he’s feeling more comfortable my husband will take up golfing again, because there are golf courses nearby  — two of which are less than five minutes away. As a student he visited Spokane for state golf tournaments as well as ski races. He is in fact looking forward to skiing again this winter.

There’s a lot to like about this place, and I find the change of environment very refreshing, even if I hate being cold, even if a part of me feels sad for giving up our expat lifestyle as overseas educators. That sadness will diminish as I watch my son having this much access to parks and wildlife.
