Here’s an idea for Christmas presents – make your own bag charms or keyholders out of beads. No special skills needed, just know how to tie a knot. It’s also important to not to use too much glass or ceramic beads. These were my first creations when I took up beading as a hobby. As I learned to get more confident with the beading tools I began using pins and chains. When we returned to Lagos I made more using African beads. They were a hit, even some male colleagues asked me to make them one for their car key. “I had little trouble finding my keys with it,” one friend said. A few preferred to keep them as ornaments, like my mother-in-law and principal.
